First I had a Christmas Market to attend and then my husband fell off the roof of the cabin and needed surgery on his hand (but he's on the mend... whew... he sure scared me!) and I forgot all about having to update here with pictures.
So here's our little cabin as it looked the last time we were at the property.Thank you to Sam's dad Randy for helping us with this part of the cabin! It's very much appreciated!!
doesn't it look cute? I looove the porch! |
Since then, Winter has arrived and we had some brutal temperatures already. -33 C with the wind!! Can you imagine? For now, we have put the cabin on hold til it warms up considerably. We still would like to frame in the gables this year, but we'll have to wait and see how the weather plays out.
Over the last few days I've been trying to figure out a siding color. I would love red, but it's becoming a difficult choice to find the right red. Some type of barn red would look fabulous with the natural logs, don't you think? But what kind of red? I'm afraid that red fades fairly fast, so I'm torn now. Or what other color do you think would look great? We are thinking of a semi-solid stain instead of paint... The bottom of the cabin will be wavy edge siding and the gables will be board and batten siding, but all the same color. hmmm. Decisions, decisions!
that's incredible...i imagine is challenging but fun to be building your own cabin.
ReplyDeleteIt is coming right along. So happy dh is doing better. Will you have to wait until spring to finish up or do you have a nice month before that? February in Nevada is motorcycle riding weather, the flowers and trees start to bud, and then it snows again and we freeze until June.
